SAW's BBQ (The Original)
SAW's has grown into a local mini-empire, but the Oxmoor Road original is still where we send people first. The pulled pork comes out crispy around the edges and soaked in a tangy vinegar sauce, and the smoked chicken with white sauce is just as good. It's also the only SAW's that lists smoked ribs on the menu.

Demetri's started as El Rancho BBQ in 1961 and has been on 28th Avenue South in Homewood since 1973. It's barbecue and a classic Southern breakfast under one roof, with a drive-thru for good measure. Get a pork plate and a slice of coconut cream pie.

The char-grilled shrimp and grits and the Bananas Foster French toast are the moves, and the loaded Magic Brunch Potatoes get you through a lazy afternoon. It's a family-friendly barbecue joint, not a scene, and that's what makes it great.
Domestique Coffee (Dawn Patrol)
Domestique placed No. 43 on the 2026 World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list, up from No. 47 the year before, so the hype is earned. Dawn Patrol is the Homewood cafe where the whole operation comes together: a cycling-minded crowd, a tight espresso program and coffee roasted a few miles away in Lakeview.
Seeds Coffee Co.
Seeds roasts its own coffee in small batches and pairs it with a big, laid-back outdoor area that has long been a favorite study spot. It's the Oxmoor Road shop people mean when they say they'll 'grab a coffee and catch up.'
Caveat Coffee
Caveat brought draft lattes to Homewood and still pulls a steady crowd to the corner of Linden Avenue and Reese Street. The tree-shaded back patio with string lights is one of the best places in town to catch up with a friend.
